Do you suffer from anxiety…? Or feel like your constantly overthinking..?

Anxiety can be really debilitating, destroying whole days, social plans, interfering with your sleep and more.

Worrying and overthinking about things that have happened or are about to happen, signs of anxiety can be:

  • Palpitations
  • Sweating
  • Self conscious
  • Fixated about everyday plans
  • Unrealistic worry or anxiety with little or no reason
  • Feeling uneasy
  • Insomnia
  • Shortness of breath
  • Tense
  • Dizzy spells
  • Dry mouth

It can be hard to explain to other people exactly how you feel when you’re suffering with anxiety, which can make you feel isolated and alone. There are therapies that can help such as reflexology and reiki. With Reflexology there are reflex points on the feet that relate to all areas of the body. Working on reflex points such as the adrenal glands, brain, pineal, pituitary can help to relieve symptoms of anxiety, calming down the mind and bringing relief.

Here are a few things you can try at home to help your anxiety:

  • Mood boosting foods such as nuts, soy, milk, yoghurt especially live, green leafies, dark orange, vegetables, legumes, soup, citrus, wheatgerm and berries.
  • Reiki. I’ve found reiki is really good for helping with anxiety and overthinking. Reiki helps to balance the mind, body and spirit including the chakras. Any blocked stagnant energy is released leaving you feeling peaceful, lighter and calmer. If you’re not trained in reiki yourself a local practitioner will be able to help, or you may find it useful to train in level 1 reiki yourself so you can give yourself a daily treatment.
  • Meditate. Research has found just five-ten minutes of meditation can really help calm the mind.
  • Aromatherapy. Bergamot is wonderful, it has a lovely citrusy scent and is fabulous for helping relax the body and mind, as well as helping to calm anxiety and overthinking. The best way to safely use essential oils is in a burner that way your whole house smells amazing and you can just breathe it in.
  • Alcohol and caffeine can aggravate anxiety, keep a journal and note daily how your feeling from 1-10, and keep watch to see if alcohol or caffeine is having an impact on your anxiety levels.
